The Alliance used these ships throughout the Galactic Civil War as one of their largest cruisers. Through the Separatist Holdouts and Sullustan Resistance those ships eventually ended up in the Rebel Alliance fleet. The Sullustans managed to keep these ships out of the hands of the Galactic Empire as they occupied Sullust. Several of these ships participated in the Battle of Sullust.Ī small amount of these ships managed to survive the Clone Wars. Admiral Dua Ningo used one of these ships as his flagship during the early stages of the Clone Wars, until he was transfered to Foerost to lead the Bulwark fleet.

The Separatists deployed many of these ships to protect key holdings like Siskeen, Yag'Dhul, Sluis Van, Harrin and Sullust self. SoroSuub and Sullust joined the Confederacy of Independent Systems and, amongst other material, supplied Dauntless-class heavy cruisers to the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Not long after the introduction of the Dauntless-class the Clone Wars began. Introduced in 22 BBY, the ship was intended to serve in the Sullustan Home Guard. The ship remained in service until after the conclusion of the Yuuzhan Vong War, proving it was a reliable design. This allowed the vessel to compete with more modern Imperial designs. At the time of its introduction to the Rebel Alliance fleet the ship was upgraded with an excellent sensor package and countermeasures system. The Dauntless-class inspired the design of the Bulwark Mark I-class battleship and Bulwark Mark II-class battleship. For a ship of its size it could be relative quickly assembled, which allowed Sullust to produce dozens of these vessels in a mere matter of months.
